In principle Stokke® advises against buying used car seats, since a number of uncertainties are involved. Never buy a second-hand child car seat if you do not know the history of the product. A seat that is worn or has been in a collision will no longer provide the same level of protection in the event of a future collision. Also, the requirements for the latest standard for approval, ECE R44.04, are stricter than those of the previous standard. The seat should be approved in accordance with the latest version of the standard in order to provide optimal protection. Check that there are certification marks on the seat, that the instructions for use are supplied, and that no parts are damaged. A car seat should not be used for more than five years in total. Always place the safety of your child first.
